Freeze the cold pack for at least 12-14 hours by lying it flat on a domestic freezer shelf before using.

Be careful when handling the cold pack, especially when it's frozen, as the plastic becomes brittle when frozen and can split if bumped against something hard or dropped. You may only realise the damage once the cold pack has thawed and gel has escaped into the pouch.

Use the cold pack for 1 year before changing it for a new one.

Keep the Commute closed unless you need to access your insulin - don't open it unnecessarily as the cold escapes when you do, and this can shorten the temperature time frame.

Never place your insulin in direct contact with the frozen cold pack.
